Super Duper Burgers. Locally-sourced products, homemade pickles, and declicious food. You’ll definitely want to find one near you in San Francisco.

My Association of Luxury Suite Director’s conference was a couple weeks ago in San Francisco.  Our hotel was the San Francisco Marriott Marquis, in the heart of downtown. On Wednesday lunch was on our own, and we walked across the street to find something to eat. We decided to try Super Duper Burgers, but the line was absolutely ridiculous, even well after the lunch hour. We didn’t think we would have enough time, so we had to keep on moving.

I still wanted to try Super Duper Burgers, and had seen another location on Market Street during my morning runs through the city. There are 6 Super Duper Burgers locations in San Francisco, plus 2 in North Bay and 2 in South Bay. All are open for lunch and dinner, but only a few are open for breakfast. There was no conference breakfast on Thursday morning, and once I realized the one on Market was open for breakfast, I headed straight there.

Super Duper Burgers is all about sustainability and locally-sourced products. They use organic, cage-free eggs, vegetarian-fed beef ground fresh daily, locally baked bread, and organic cream. Even the packaging is 100% compostable.

The restaurants are not very large. That, and the food, is what leads to the huge crowds for lunch. At breakfast, though, there were only a few other customers. The space is very industrial looking, with wood tables, metal chairs, and cement floors. I like that they have patios as well.

Super Duper Burgers makes their own pickles. You can buy them by the jar, but they also have complimentary pickles at the drink stand.

These pickles were so good.  Tart, but not overpowering. Extremely fresh and crunchy. I strongly considered buying a bottle, but then I remembered I had to fly home. And I wouldn’t be able to carry it on, because of the liquid. And if the bottle broke in my checked luggage, that would NOT be good.

The Super Duper Burgers lunch menu offers quite a few options, including burgers, veggie burgers, chicken sandwich, fries, salads, and organic shakes. The breakfast menu is very simple, with 2 breakfast sandwiches, mini donuts, and coffee. This was perfect for me, because I don’t do well with large menus. They have a combo meal that included their famous mini donuts. I was tempted, but after all the food we had eaten all week, I probably didn’t need them. They do make the donuts fresh daily, and I’m sure they were really good. I went with the egg sandwich with cheese and bacon.

This sandwich was awesome. All the ingredients were so fresh, and you can definitely tell the difference from a regular restaurant. They make your food when you order, so nothing is sitting around. Man, I wish I had known about this place from my first day in town!

Will I go back to Super Duper Burgers? No question, and on my next visit it will be lunch. When we had walked in there the day before it smelled amazing. If their lunch is anything like breakfast, I’ll be in good hands.

They were really good Amy! I wanted more, but thought it might be rude to just keep eating them all morning... :)

Pickles are one of my favorite snacks. They're tart, healthy, and not too messy. They have to have some crunch though. These sound delicious.
