Some people like hot dogs with just the basics; others like them with all kinds of toppings. This week’s Recipe Roundup: Hot Dogs covers all the bases.
I have to admit, I very rarely ever eat hot dogs anymore. Partially it’s because they aren’t the healthiest food you can buy. But more so because I cook for one; so when I buy a package of hot dogs they inevitably go bad before I eat them all. And besides, hot dogs come 8 to a pack and hot dog buns come in packages of 12. Who came up with that ridiculous idea anyway?! Every time I think about it, I’m reminded of the scene in the movie “Father of the Bride” when Steve Martin goes on a rant about it in the grocery store. But, when I’m at a party/cookout/tailgate/etc, and there are hot dogs on the menu, I will almost always eat at least one.
Normally when I eat hot dogs, I go simple with the condiments: ketchup, mustard, sometimes relish. This week’s Recipe Roundup: Hot Dogs has shown me that there are so many more inventive ways to top hot dogs. I’m inspired to go buy some hot dogs and buns, and get creative.
