18 seats, a staff of 3 and one grill? At Nibbles Eatery, that’s all it takes to serve up delicious food in a wonderful, friendly atmosphere.
Last month I spent the weekend in Eureka Springs AR. It was my first visit to Eureka Springs, but definitely won’t be my last. I had such a relaxing visit, and it was great to not have a specific time frame to do anything. Eureka Springs is a tiny resort town, and downtown is full of shops, art galleries and restaurants. I stayed in a friend’s cottage, just on the edge of downtown and walking distance to everything.
Each morning I worked out and then window shopped downtown. When I arrived on Thursday afternoon, it wasn’t that crowded. But each day more and more tourists and visitors arrived. One of Vance’s restaurant recommendations was Nibbles Eatery. He had yet to steer me wrong, so who was I to question him?
Nibbles Eatery is in the heart of downtown, is open 8am-4pm, with breakfast available until 11am. Nibbles Eatery is tiny…I think my living room is larger than the whole space. The restaurant only seats 18, which explains why there is often a long line. I arrived at about 10:40AM, and got the last table. There are only 3 staff working, and only one grill.
The Nibbles Eatery menu is larger than I expected, including appetizers, salads, sandwiches, specialties, plus breakfast entrees and smoothies. They also offer daily quiche and soup specials, and one lunch special.
I wasn’t feeling breakfast, so I asked if I could order lunch. Due to the small grill and service operation, lunch options are very limited before 11AM. I thought about returning later, but I didn’t want to wait in a long line. Besides, the food smelled delicious.
After some back and forth, I decided on the Nibbles burger.
This burger is fabulous, and the prime rib is so incredibly tender. I love cheese, but wasn’t sure about the combination of cheddar and prime rib. One bite, and I was sold. Cheddar adds a wonderful flavor, and works very well with the meat. The wasabi mayo adds a kick that sneaks up on you, but is not overwhelming. I am not typically a fan of medium rare meat, but this one is fantastic, and is a very generous portion. The server told me it’s his favorite dish on the menu, and I can definitely understand that. I can’t remember exactly what the server said the fruit is, but it’s in the honeydew melon family. Sweeter than honeydew, and just as delicious.
The down side is that it takes a while to get your order, because there is only one chef. I walked in right behind a table of 4; when they placed their order before me, I was worried my food would take even longer. Thankfully, my dish came out before theirs. I noticed they gave me a “look” when my food arrived, but their food came out just a few minutes after.
I will most certainly return to Nibbles Eatery. I would like to try the breakfast menu next time.
