Noodles & Company is a fast-casual restaurant with locations across the country. Everything is cooked to order, and delicious. You won’t be disappointed.
When I lived in Maryland, there was a Noodles & Company a couple of miles from my house, plus one in downtown College Park, just minutes from my office. I wouldn’t say I ate there regularly, but I always knew that if I needed a quick and delicious meal, I could always count on it.
There were no Noodles & Company locations in Oklahoma until about 2 years ago, when one opened in Tulsa, and then a Stillwater location followed about 6 months later. I tried it a couple of months after it opened, and wasn’t at all impressed. The menu seemed smaller than those in Maryland, and it just wasn’t very good. Fast forward to earlier this summer, when I decided to give Noodles & Company one more chance…I was well rewarded with a delicious meal.
My parents were in town a few weeks ago, for their annual visit and the first 2 home football games. The second game was an 11am kickoff, and I have a serious love-hate relationship with those early games. My students normally help me on game morning with opening everything up, but I won’t allow them to do it for 11am games. So I stay at the office overnight, and do it myself. That evening we decided to go to Noodles & Company for dinner, before I headed back to work.
Noodles & Company is a fast-casual restaurant, where you order at the counter and then your food is delivered to your table. The building is quite spacious for a space that is part of a strip mall, with a combination of booths and tables and very tall ceilings.
The Noodles & Company menu includes appetizers, noodles & pasta, “buff bowls”, soups, salads, sandwiches, and kids’ meals. Most of the noodles & pasta start vegetarian, and you can add steak, chicken, shrimp, or tofu. Everything is cooked to order, so you can easily add or remove ingredients from each dish. Many of the dishes are available as gluten free, and there are a variety of dishes that have 500 calories or less. The soups, salads, and noodles/pasta are available in 2 different sizes. The buff bowls, sandwiches, and soups/salads are more recent additions to the Noodles & Company menu.
What I also really like about this Noodles & Company location is they serve beer and wine. And not just any beer, but locally made Iron Monk beers.
We started with a full order of the cheesy garlic bread
The bread was delicious. It has a strong, but not overpowering, garlic flavor, and the bread is warm. The marinara sauce has an unexpected kick. It was good, but to us the bread by itself was perfectly fine.
I also got a half order of the chicken potstickers
The dumplings are so good, and a great twist on the traditional pork dumplings. The soy dipping sauce adds a wonderful flavor to the dumplings.
My dad got the whole grain Tuscan fresca. You can choose between feta and parmesan cheese, and he went with feta
I didn’t try any, but he said it was delicious.
My mom got the Bangkok curry
I love the vibrant colors of this dish. I tried a bite, and it was fabulous. The vegetables are tender-crisp, and the coconut curry is light yet very flavorful.
I used to always get pesto cavatappi or penne rosa, and tried Japanese pan noodles once, but I wanted something new and different. So I decided to go with pad Thai and added chicken
This pad Thai is excellent. The sauce is light, but so full of flavor. I make pad Thai at home quite a bit and have never added cabbage as this recipe at does, but I think it adds such a great crunch and texture. The lime adds a wonderfully tart bite to the dish. To me, the dish didn’t need the extra juice from the lime wedge, but I do like that they include it for people who do. The chicken breast is very tender, and has a good flavor as well.
I’m so happy that I gave this Noodles & Company location another chance. The service is fast, and the food is delicious. I’ll definitely continue to eat here.
